Class - 3 Navy, 2014
Teacher - Ms Leah Belson
I
wish to extend to you my warmest welcome into our 3 Navy classroom at St. Bernardine’s
Primary School. My name is Leah Belson and I will be your child’s teacher this
year. I am thrilled to be part of the Year 3 teaching team for 2014 and am
looking forward to interacting with you and your child. I truly believe
positive teacher-parent relationships are paramount to providing a safe and
productive space in which to learn.
My
professional qualifications include a Graduate Diploma in Teaching &
Learning (Primary), Bachelor of Educational Studies and a Diploma of Business.
I am also furthering my studies in Religious Education. I had the pleasure of
starting at St. Bernardine’s in 2011 and am anticipating a
wonderful year with the students of 3 Navy.
On a
personal note, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family and am lucky to
have a very supportive extended family network. I relax by delving into
literature ranging from Jane Austen to J.K. Rowling and hope to inspire your
child to embrace the discovery of different types of literature.
My
philosophy for learning encompasses the belief that each child is unique. As
such, one of my goals as a teacher is to help your child discover their
individuality and to become a confident, self-regulated learner. I believe in
hands-on experiences, the exploration of creativity and learning through life-like
and real-life scenarios.
My
aspirations for 2014 include providing an enjoyable, motivating and Christ-centred
learning environment that builds confidence, promotes a sense of belonging, and
supports children’s desire to do their best. I am an advocate of Visible
Learning which explores how evidence can be used to create innovation in the
learning environment. Evidence is the process of gathering, analysing, interpreting and using information about students' progress and achievement to improve
teaching and learning.
If you have any concerns or questions throughout the year please do not hesitate to call or email me to arrange a meeting. My email address is lbelson@bne.catholic.edu.au and the office number is 3800 1854.
Kind regards,
Leah Belson
